Switzerland is famous for: Chocolate, cheese, watches and for its cleanness. However, it actually has much more to offer than that as you will if you are traveling there. A great way to do this is by bike. This was this way already before
Switzerland Tourism and the organization
"Cyling Switzerland" we starting to promote it as well.
I would like to avoid to talk a lot about the history of Switzerland for know. The most remarkable about Switzerland is probably, that for several hundred years already, different cultures are living peacefully in the same country together, maybe also sometimes just next to each other. Somehow it seems to be possible to bring those four different language regions (Swiss Germans, Romands (French), Italians and Rhaeto-Romans) together without violent conflicts (most of the time at least).
Switzerland is a country with a very diverse landscape: The Swiss midland is mostly flat and is heavily populated. The Swiss Alps, the mountains, are much less populated and not flat at all. On the north side of the Alps, you have a climate which is mostly influenced by the Atlantic. On the south side of the Alps (Ticino) you get an almost Mediterranean climate. So as a cyclist you can choose what kind of adventure you would like to get.
As mentioned before, the organisation
"Cycling Switzerland" is promoting Switzerland to be discovered by bike. For this they have created a great network of different routes all over Switzerland. Have a look on their website for more information. And if you are sick of just cycling have a look on the website of
Schweiz Mobil for hiking, skating, rafting, ...
Enjoy!
